Lyfa’s Establishment

Let’s go back to the roots of Lyfa. The Danish lighting adventure began in the picturesque Ballerup in the early 20th century. Originally known as Københavns Lampe Og Lysekronefabrik, the company later shortened its name to Lyfa. In the 1930s, the focus was on table lamps inspired by Poul Henningsen’s revolutionary multi-layered lamp.

During the 1950s to 1970s, Lyfa collaborated with prominent architects and designers such as Piet Hein, Finn Juhl, and Claus Bonderup, and their designs were widely praised and awarded.

Lyfa’s Merger with Fog & Morup

A crucial moment came in the late 1970s when Lyfa merged with Fog & Morup, another leading Danish lighting manufacturer. This collaboration marked the beginning of a new era for the manufacturers.

In the subsequent decades, the company underwent further changes, merging with Lyskaer and ultimately Horn Belysning, also known as Lightyears, in 1991. Nevertheless, the legacy of this beautiful brand continues to thrive in timeless designs that have withstood the test of time.
