The History of the Tip Top Pendant Lamp
Travel back in time to the 1960s when Jørgen Gammelgaard served as a UN advisor in Samoa. In that remote setting, the only light he had at his disposal was a simple fluorescent lamp. But Gammelgaard was a visionary with an irresistible drive for improvement. He tilted that simple fluorescent lamp and added hand-cut plastic covers to refine the light quality. What began as a modest project in the South Pacific quickly became the inspiration for a lamp that was welcomed by Statens Kunstfond almost immediately after its launch.
This concept of light enhancement has beautifully translated into the creation of these pendant and mounted lamps, each featuring six handmade aluminum lampshades. This lamp is not just a source of illumination; it’s a tribute to Gammelgaard’s creativity and innovation, a tangible reminder of his time in Samoa. Let this piece of history, intertwined with contemporary elegance, illuminate and inspire your space.
