Louis Poulsen PH Contrast pendant light
This incredible pendant light by Louis Poulsen has no less than ten layers. The PH Contrast pendant light was designed by Poul Henningsen, and it was produced by Louis Poulsen between 1958 and 1962. The PH Contrast construction is made of ten aluminum caps held together by three steel supports. Each shade is divided into 4 different treated surfaces: white paint, orange/red paint, blue paint and polished metal/chrome.
By means of a manually operated sliding mechanism around the pendulum rod, the light bulb in the pendant can be moved up and down. As a result, the light follows different paths through the structure, reflecting off the different colored surfaces. It was this ability to adjust the color contrast of the light that gave this pendant its name.
Condition
The pendant is about 60 years old and in very good condition with minimal signs of previous use.
