Teknika

Teknika A/S, founded in 1943 by Erik Jensen in Vanløse, Copenhagen, began as a creative response to wartime shortages. What started with handmade door signs and bicycle pumps, quickly grew into an innovative lighting manufacturer.
After the war, Jensen managed to acquire brass and aluminum tubes, which laid the foundation for a flourishing lamp production that would continue for decades. Teknika designed and produced a wide range of lamps – from domestic lighting to industrial fixtures.
The combination of functional design and smart choice of materials made the products popular at home and abroad. In addition to lighting, Teknika also produced medical equipment, such as capsules for medicine bottles and a machine to make penicillin bottles dust-free. However, the lamps formed the backbone of the company for many years.
In 1971, the curtain fell for Teknika, due to financial setbacks and the oil crisis. But through the stories of Erik Jensen’s family, the legacy lives on – including the shining light of their designs.
