Poul Henningsen
Poul Henningsen designed the multi-screen system as early as 1925-1926, where PH, in collaboration with Louis Poulsen, designed the first lamps for an exhibition in Paris. The collaboration with Louis Poulsen lasted until his death in 1967. PH spent his life trying to create glare-free light, directing the light where it was needed and creating soft shadows using the incandescent lamp as the light source. The PH 4/3 metal pendant was launched in 1966. It is designed on the same principle as the other 3 screen system and based on a logarithmic spiral, with the focal point of the light source being in the center of the spiral. This lamp is a simplified model of the lamp that PH designed in 1929. The lamp then brought the highest honor at the World Exhibition in Barcelona.
Design PH Contrast
An aluminum and steel pendant light designed between 1958-1962 by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen. The PH Contrast construction is made of ten aluminum hoods held together by three steel supports. Each shade is divided into 4 different treated surfaces: white paint, orange / red paint, blue paint and polished metal / chrome plated. By means of a manually operated sliding mechanism around the pendulum rod, the light bulb in the lamp can be moved up and down. As a result, the light follows different paths through the construction, reflecting on the different colored surfaces. It was this ability to adjust the color contrast of the light that gave this lamp its name.
