Design PH 4/3 pendant

Poul Henningsen designed the system with 3 screens as early as 1925-1926, where PH, in collaboration with Louis Poulsen, designed the first lamps for an exhibition in Paris. The collaboration with Louis Poulsen lasted until his death in 1967. PH spent his life trying to create glare-free light, directing the light where it was needed and creating soft shadows using the incandescent lamp as the light source. The PH 4/3 metal shuttle was launched in 1966. It is designed on the same principle as the other 3 screen system and based on a logarithmic spiral, with the focal point of the light source being in the center of the spiral. This lamp is a simplified model of the lamp that PH designed in 1929. The lamp then brought the highest honor at the World Exhibition in Barcelona.

Poul Henningsen

The hugely influential and courageous designer, architect, author and cultural critic Poul Henningsen (1894-1967) left his mark in many areas of Danish thought and design, and his legacy is an integral part of Louis Poulsen’s work to shape light. to give. The starting point for how we design and shape our light can be traced back to Poul Henningsen’s three screen system from 1926, which he invented to reduce the unpleasant glare and improve the light in his lamps.

Louis Poulsen

Louis Poulsen’s goal is not just to design lamps. By shaping light from a lamp, Louis Poulsen wants to create an atmosphere in which people feel good, both inside and outside. The shape of the light creates space and the products should live harmoniously in the space they define – indirect, soft and inviting.
