Designer Carl Thore pendant lamp
The real name of the designer known as Carl Thore was Sigurd Lindkvist, and he was born in 1916 in Amal in Dalsland, Sweden. After working for a lighting company called Luko, Lindkvist joined Granhaga Metallindustri in 1961, for whom he designed lamps and was also head of sales, and stayed with the company until he retired around 1981. Lindkvist took the pseudonym Carl Thore for his Granhaga lighting designs on a whim when he presented the lamps to a client who asked for the designer’s identity. “Carl Thore,” Lindkvist blurted out, these were his two middle names. Design
This base of this luminaire is designed on a reflective multi-shade system. In this way the light is distributed over several discs. This allows the light to shine both horizontally and downwards. The orange accent on the inside of the lamp provides warm light.
Specifications
The lamp is wired with a white cord of approximately 90 cm. The manufacturer’s sticker is no longer present.
This lamp is approximately 50 years old and in good condition with minor signs of previous use. The white paint on the inside of the lamp is starting to peel off. Unfortunately, we see this more often with Carl Thore lamps.
