Design Iittala Festivo candlestick
Timo Sarpaneva originally designed the Festivo candle holder as a wine glass for himself. The contents of an entire bottle of wine had to fit into a single glass. The result was an icy glass with a rough structure, the chalice and base of which were blown separately from each other. When the feet of the glasses were separated from the chalices in the factory, the idea was born to use them as a candlestick – thus the prototype of a new classic was born. The Festivo series has been in production since 1967 and is rightfully an icon in the Finnish interior.
