Hans Jørgen Berthel’s Abo Metalindustri was born on June 1, 1961 with the address at Kærmindevej no. 14 in Kongens Lyngby. ABO Randers A/S was a small lighting company based mainly on one product idea: the successful Ball magnet wall lamp, originally designed by Benny Frandsen. The genius of this light is the magnet that holds the bulb in place and allows easy adjustment of the direction of the light. The lamp was a great success until the 1970s and early 1980s and is now produced by Frandsen Lighting. In the 1970s, they expanded their production line to include a significant number of other lighting designs.
“Money has never meant anything to me. I focused more on the creative challenges, but also on all the tasks and ideas. And when it all plagued, the best medicine was to go home and sleep over the problem. a resort the next day.”
In the mid-1980s, ABO Randers bought by Lyskær Belysning.
